Wreaths Across America
in
Englewood Florida

This event occurred on Saturday December 10, 2011 at 12:00 noon
at the Lemon Bay Cemetery in Englewood, Florida. This is a nation wide ceremony that takes place each year.

All the service branches were duly noted with a wreath dedicated to each.

This new pavilion was built by Paul Evers as an Eagle Scout project... with the assistance of the NAM Knights motorcycle group, and was dedicated on November 11, 2010

On the floor of the new structure were these bronze plates representing
each branch of the service as well as POW / MIA

Army

Navy

Air Force

Marines

Coast Guard

P.O.W. - M.I.A.

Merchant Marines

The ceremony began at 12:00 sharp to be in coordination with the national event which included 740 places US locations and 25 overseas

Ceremony began with pledge of allegiance & Star Spangled Banner

Annette Sharpe was chairperson for our local event

Each wreath was hung by a member of their own branch

Paul Evers assisted Ed Dostie , a former prisoner of war
with the POW / MIA wreath

A prayer by LAVFW president Cathy Mosley

Participants then were encouraged to help place new flags and small hand made wreaths made by LAVFW ladies on veterans graves throughout the cemetery.

Patriot Riders assisted in the event

Two large hand made wreaths made by LAVFW member Marian Brumley were hung at the main entrance of the cemetery

Kids Creating Change also assisted in the ceremony
