The Royal Palm Marina
Grande Opening Celebration
January 2010

The celebration lasted for 3 days, Friday, Saturday and Sunday and included FREE food for everyone, every day! I was there
photographing the event on Saturday, January 30th from noon till 9 pm

Easy to find at the west end of Wentworth Avenue in Englewood,
you just drive past the 50 ton boat lift and follow the signs to their new

Inside you were greeted with some colorful, and very fashionable beads

You could pick up a ticket for a FREE Meal... enter into their drawing for lots of cool prizes and / or buy one of their new Grande Opening t-shirts

Of course there was always some nice cold beer, soda's and
water for sale from some of the pretty CREW members

and $1.25 draft beers at the waterfront Tiki Bar all day long

The parking lot and the marina filled up quickly

Englewood Sailing Association was there looking for new members

And the WENG Coastal Angler Fishing Report was live on location

WENG Station Manager Ken Birdsong sits nearby in the WENG mobile

The pork was being slow cooked in the big portable smoker

While the chicken was grilling on the Bar B Q

And the line up for a FREE Lunch was getting longer by the minute

Meanwhile, I went about the business of getting some great
casual portraits of some of the patrons

Their new marina setting also now includes this large party area right
next to the Tiki Bar and this great outdoor area right by the dock

They had live music all three days... and the music on Saturday
started out with some great music by Finger Mullet

I met this little cutie playing in the parking lot and took her picture without
asking and she ran off into the crowd to tell her mommy...

But a few second later she came back and I showed her the picture
on my digital camera and she smiled and offered me this beautiful stone
as a token of her appreciation :)

Finally, the food was served and the line moved quickly

This couple is here all the way from Switzerland...
and were happy to get my business card and web site
so they can go home and share this event with their friends at home.

Inside the Tiki Bar they had drawings every few hours
for some really great prizes

T-shirt and some nice jewelry

A FREE Bay Watch Nature Cruise

And lots of other interesting stuff

Around 3 pm they had their official ribbon cutting ceremony
with the big scissors from the Englewood Chamber of Commerce

And Johnna Pellegrini, a hair stylist from Salon 776 in Heron Plaza
had everyone at the party sign the cut blue ribbon afterwards

A little afternoon shower moved everyone indoors
but the crew was prepared to continue their services
after slipping into some really sexy rain gear

This group was just passing through the area
and staying at Royal Palm Marina for a few days during their trip

The Great loop includes sailing down the Mississippi,
along the Gulf Coast, and the entire east coast on the way back
to the Great Lakes. Sounds like fun :)

This guy even won a brand new Penn Reel to take with him :)

Some brand new fishing lures.... I guess he was still hungry :)

And I even won this authentic wood carving :)

It was getting a little chilly
as the sun went down

But the party continued at the new Tiki Bar despite the outdoor weather

While Kenny Rose took over as the live entertainment and kept the place rockin !
